” I was in a forest. It wasn’t the nicest forest and it certainly wasn’t the forest I saw in my last dream, but it was a good forest. The trees were healthy, there weren’t so many dead branches and rocks on the ground and we could walk within it without having problems. Many friends were with me. Some were old friends and some appeared to be friends but I do not know them, but they still were friends to me within the dream and we were having a great time. We were on bicycles on a very fine path made for cycling. It was very dark and the night was beautiful. The weather was warm and I could feel the humidity in the air. It began to rain but the rain wasn’t cold and we were enjoying it. I even talked about the fact that I have never caught a cold by standing in the rain because I enjoy it so much, which is true.

After cycling for a while, we came out of the forest and found a grocery store. Some friends went inside. I stayed outside, checking out my bicycle. When they came out with what they needed, we went back on the path and the rain was falling heavily. We reached an old cottage. A woman in her 50s was waiting for us. She had three children, two young girls and a young boy, aged between 5 and 9 years old. We gave her the groceries and camped outside. She invited me to stay inside, but I wanted to stay with my friends. Many of them were not prepared for this and lacked the camping equipment, so I gave them mine. Another man was very well equiped and held a lot of knowledge on how to survive within the wilderness. I didn’t know who he was, but I began to find a friend in him. I asked him if he wanted to make a natural camp with me by cutting down trees and he agreed. I woke up. “

Remember Christmas

January 3, 2010

As I am writing this, on a cold november night, snow finally settled on the ground for good. A piano and a gravely voice resonates within my head. There are unusual lights all over the neighborhood. People are preparing for Christmas. There’s something going on inside the children minds. Magic. I still remember it myself. I have to remember it. I have to keep this within me.

I opened the window to let some fresh air enter. The scent of renewal filled the house. The fireplace keeps the warmth inside, however. I have a cup of coffee. I have enough. I have it all.

Sometimes I hate myself for living in North America and sometimes there are moments like these.

There are times that you must enjoy what you have. Naively.

The song is ending.

Freeway, cars and trucks. Freeway, cars and trucks. Freeway cars and trucks.

Wow

To be a man

October 1, 2009

To be a man is not about overpowering others, it’s about using your powers in order to help them.

To be a man is not to attack but to defend.

To be a man is to control your fears. Never put fear into the hearts of others.

To be a man is to teach. To be a man is to learn even when you are used to teaching.

To be a man is to know where and when to go.

To be a man is to accept truth.

To be a man is to acknowledge failure and defeat.

To be a man is to face death and illness with courage.

To be a man is to sacrifice oneself for the benefit of others.

To be a man is to inspire loyalty.

To be a man is to respect all that is; living and not living.

To be a man is to care for those you love.

To be a man is to think before commiting an act.

To be a man is to forget about the pointless mockeries.

To be a man is to cry without remorse.

To be a man is to ensure prosperity.

To be a man is to teach your sons how to be a man.

To me, these are the requirements for those who want to be men.

Where were you, father, when I learned these things all by myself?

See through it

Morning

Three children in the park are laughing near the three blue, green and red swing sets. A man is raking leaves in front of his house while another is working on his car’s motor. His garage door is open. A thin smoke is coming out of his backyard and a smell of burning leaves crosses the street. I can hear the distinct sound of a school bus. The sky is pale and the sun is refreshing and warm as I sit down. A teenage couple is silently walking on the sidewalk. They are holding hands. A dog is howling because his master left home for work. Another dog barks back at it. The wind shortly rises up, buries the other sounds for a moment, and leaves fall from the trees in a swirling dance. Those that were already on the ground lift up in the air and come back down.

The park bench I am sitting on needs a new coat of paint. A cat living nearby comes underneath it and rubs its sides on my leg but is startled by a passing car and runs away. The grass underneath the trees is still frozen by the night’s cold temperature. A black squirrel is chasing a rival without making any sounds.

Afternoon

The cat is on my lap now. I saw him coming in and out of an old woman’s house. A mother is carrying her baby in a dark colored stroller. An old man is riding a bicycle that has some groceries in its front basket. The sound of an ambulance siren comes from the distance, nearer, nearer and then goes away. Men are laughing and talking at the door of a restaurant. The sky is cloudier and the sun makes brief appearances through them. I can now hear children coming out of the school.

Evening

The cat went inside, back home. Echoing, ghostly sounds of cars on the highway are now reaching the city. The sky is red, pink, purple, blue, all at the same time. Footsteps of a man walking by quickly. People who bought fireworks early in the summer are lighting up the remaining ones they have left. The church bell is rang for the last time today.

There is beauty in this world.

Dream #7 – Future Japan

February 22, 2009

Today the patient told us of another dream. This time, he was at home with his mother and she was complaining of having multiple large insects invading her house.  The patient went to bed ( in his dream, of course ) and tried to sleep, but as he was lying down, a spider-like creature attacked him. It tried to bite, but the patient killed it. After this, the patient stood up and searched for other insects. He soon found many others and they were coming out of an open door leading to some sort of amazonian forest. He looked behind him and when he looked back, the amazonian forest had been replaced by a city – a Japanese city. It seemed to be a very advanced city. Everything was white and clean and people appeared to be very happy to live there. The patient crossed the door and went forward.

The city seemed to be underground. The patient couldn’t see the sky. He wanted to talk to the people surrounding him, but they all spoke Japanese and he did not. Suddenly the patient had a strong desire to find a specific man. He had a picture and information on the man. The patient, however, found a very large pool. The pool was U shaped. The patient was fully clothed, but wanted to swim too. Many people were swimming. Many children were there with their family. The patient smiled and waved at many children who smiled and waved back at him. The patient swam all the way and came back to the entrance.

When the patient came out of the water, everyone seemed to leave at the same time. Soon enough, the area was deserted and the patient was wandering in a dark corridor. He met two women who were discussing the necessity of war. The patient told them:

” I am not on either sides because no one cares about me. You fight for dominance and gold, but the only war I would die for would be the fight for life itself. ”

The two women dissapeared, vanished. The patient was left in total obscurity. At this point, the patient believes that it was the start of a very small nightmare. A vampire-like man came and challenged the patient to a fight. The vampire would spawn at various places around the patient and try to attack him with a two handed axe. The patient countered every attacks, but he grew weary and woke up.
